Residential Wind Power

I recently read a review about Windside turbines in Ode Magazine. These turbines, made in Finland, are reputed to begin generating electricity at 2mi/hr, topping out at 130mi/hr. They are supposed to be designed to accomodate wind speed, turbulence and the changes of wind direction. Finally, they're affordable, under $4,000 for a residential unit, including battery, according to Ode.

I've contacted a Windside rep. to give a presentation and answer questions, in Marlboro in mid-January (2007). Many towns-people have already expressed an interest. If there are more of you, please express your interest here and I will schedule a larger venue such as the Outback.

Any thoughts??

The Windpower Presentation by Tangerie Energy has been postponed due to severe weather. The meeting will be at the Marlboro Elementary School Junior High classroom, Thursday, March 1 at 7:00 pm . They are planning to bring a turbine to demonstrate it’s function. Please pass the word to everyone because many have learned of this by word of mouth. Thanks!

Windpower Presentation by Tangarie Energy LLC distributor of Oy Windside of Finland
Location: Marlboro Elementary School Junior High room or the Outback (Gymn) if attendance is strong
Date and Time: February 15, 7:00 p.m.
Directions: 2669 Route 9, Marlboro, VT 05344, (802) 254-2668 Ten miles west of I-91 exit two, on the south side of Rt 9 and at the end of a truck passing lane that begins at Sweeties General store and just east of the intersection of Rt9 and South Rd (which leads to the beautiful Marlboro town center).

Updated Information:
Current figures for a WS-30 (see Oy Winside link for data on turbine models WS-0,30; WS-2, WS-4) are $10 to 12,000 or $7 to $9.50/watt. The quote of $4,000 made by Ode Magazine is an error according to Tangarie Energy and they have asked Ode to retract it. Tangerie Energy plans to have a manufacturing facility in New Hampshire within a year in an effort to improve availability and affordability.
