In the beginning ...
... there was a new town website.
Thank you for stopping by the website, Susan. It is nice to hear from you. We look forward to seeing you again. The church services start July 1 and will continue to September 2, The town has a number of activities during the summer. We hope you will enjoy some of them when you return. I will let other people you met know about your note here.
OK, I'm going to show it off like it is today and see what the comments are.
Here's what there is.
* Navigation
* main navigation across the top
* secondary navigation just below, in the grey bar
* Static content
* Once we have a content manager,
that person can edit the static pages through the site,
namely those under "About", "Groups", and "Region".
* I haven't yet implemented something to let minutes
or newsletters be easily posted; that'll be coming.
* Interactive stuff
* Anyone can register a username/password.
* Once registered, users can
* Add photo albums (if they have the bandwidth)
* Create discussion topics, and comment on other's topics
* Add events to the calendar
* To do
* Write the help page (about/help)
and other missing pages
* Make the "Add event" page more easily found
* Play with the look and feel ("theme") after comments
* Put in a way to upload minutes and newsletters
(i.e. selectboard minutes and mixer pdf's)

About a week later, Fri June 23, and the format is feeling pretty good.
I think there may be some problems with the user registration process - perhaps the email notification system isn't working. I need make sure that's working before going live.
Otherwise, all that's left is to fill in some of the core content.
The parts that are close to working include :
* a selectboard page that allows file attachments
* a marlboro mixer page that allows file attachments
* a local businesses page that will let registered users
add their business, including a small image
a "shortcuts" menu in the top left column; destinations to be decided.
I have two top images that look OK; one daytime and one evening.
Perhaps I'll have 'em load at different times of day...

When my husband and I visited your wonderful Church and town, we were treated with such warm hospitality that it warms my heart to think about it.
