Marlboro today; things I've heard, things I remember, things I wonder.

The Marlboro Vermont I remember goes from the early 80's to mid 90's. From the pictures I see, and things I read, it seems that this beautiful town has stayed just as perfect from when I was a resident.

I grew up living in a beautiful yellow farm house down on Lower Dover road. I must say, the 100 acres, abundant fruit trees, and flowing water in the back was a wonderful place to be as a child. I often wonder what happened to that home. The last two Years there, My mother and I lived at the Whitney Farm. Saturday breakfasts at the Skyline Restaraunt were a treat, and swimming at the Davidsons pond was a summer tradition.

I have heard that Whoopi Goldberg bought the Davidson farm, is this true? Also, I see that Hogback Mountain was for sale, but there is a group of conversationists trying to retain the lands natural beauty. Is this mountain still for sale, what is being done with it these days? One piece of information that may be interesting to some, is that one of Marlboro's own natives has become a rising music star. A fellow classmate of mine named Pete Bernhard has become quite the popular musician. He currently lives in California. I am not sure if his father Woody Bernhard still lives in the area. Pete's music definately has some influence of the beautiful place he grew up. If you are interested, you can listen to it at www.petebernhard.com.

I wonder if the skyline is still in existance today. Does Whoopi Goldberg really live in Marlboro, or is it more of a vacation spot, and do people still frequent the Davidson Pond?

In closing, I encourage everyone to share something about Marlboro from the past, that they are still proud to say exists today. Also, if you have one, give an interesting fact about this lovely town that me not be known to others.

Sincerely,

Christopher Stanford
