SECOND MEETING: COMMUNITY VISIT PROGRAM

community center meeting in outback
Apr 29 2010 - 6:30pm
Apr 29 2010 - 9:00pm
Etc/GMT-4

After a wonderful turnout on March 25th at the Community Visit Day, the next phase of the “Community Visit” process for Marlboro is taking shape. The next step is the COMMUNITY MEETING set for THURSDAY, APRIL 29TH from 6:30 to 9:00 PM at the MARLBORO SCHOOL OUTBACK. The Community Meeting will review the challenges and ideas that the Visiting Team heard on its visit in March, prioritize some key directions, and take some first steps toward action. Whether or not you were able to attend the first meeting, everyone in the community, young and old, from all parts of town is invited to attend. From high school students to Marlboro College students and faculty, to working people, retired folks and second home-owners—everyone has a stake and something to contribute to making Marlboro a better place to live, work and raise children.

SYNOPSIS OF FIRST MEETING:
At the March meetings, more than 150 Marlboro community members met in sessions over the course of the day with a group of 25 state and federal leaders to look at the strengths of the community and the challenges ahead. From the nine focus forums on the March 25, The Vermont Council on Rural Development (VCRD), the sponsor and producer of the Community Visit process, gathered over 25 pages of testimony on issues ranging from land use, sustainability, energy, economic development, and infrastructure to community vision, identity and the potential need for a community center. VCRD will report the key issues that the Visiting Team heard in Marlboro to the full community at this next meeting.
